INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN Remake Gets Worse

As if the idea of comedic remake of the 1957 sci-fi classic The Incredible Shrinking Man starring Eddie Murphy sounded bad enough, the project takes a turn for the even worse as the Hollywood Reporter states that Brett Ratner is currently in talks to direct the film.

The script is by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, two members of The State comedy troupe who are also the creative force behind Comedy Central's raunchy reality TV spoof Reno 911. Unfortunately, they are also the screenwriters behind the more family-friendly Herbie: Full Loaded, Taxi and Night At The Museum.

While I know that earlier this week, I stated that a remake doesn't have to be bad if the filmmakers find some new approach to the material. However, turning a smart and surprisingly philosophical film into a family comedy is not what I had in mind.
