EW Gives Us The First Look At GREEN LANTERN

You have to love Entertainment Weekly. After years of a love/hate–mostly hate–relationship with anything comic book related, they have dedicated the issue closest to the San Diego Comic-Con to covering the convention and all the announcements that are expected from it.

This year’s issue, EW benefits from being part of the Time Warner family as it gives us an exclusive first look at Ryan Reynolds in costume from Warner Brothers’ Green Lantern film. Click image to the left for a much bigger view of the cover.

The outfit is CGI and was at least partially designed by comic artist Tom Derenick. Reaction has been mixed but I find it’s hard to make a decision either way. You only see half the costume, the picture is rather dark, and there is cover copy pasted on top of it. I would have to wait until I saw more of the costume before I decided I hated it or loved it.

The issue will be hitting better newsstands today through Monday.

Gee… It just doesn’t feel like an EW Comic-Con issue without the mention of Comic Con being “geek prom”…
