This past weekend a scanned picture from the current issue of Entertainment Weekly showing Jason Segel, the flesh and blood star of the upcoming new Muppet movie surrounded by his felt co-stars showed up online. We now have a clean version of that pic, minus all of EW‘s text. (Click on the picture for a bigger look.)
While even the most casual Muppet fan can probably name most of the Muppets on display, even hard core fans probably won’t recognize the chap down in the lower right corner holding the smart phone. That is Walter, a new Muppet created for the film.
Look at Segel’s face in the picture. Segel has stated that he is a lifelong fan of the Muppets and that landing the gig to co-write and star in the film has been a dream come true. That is the look of a very happy guy, like a kid on Christmas. And we’ll get to see the film on Christmas Day, 2011 when it hits theaters.
