It will be six months and a couple of days until it hits theaters, but today we get our first good look at what Peter Jackson has in store for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug with this just released first teaser trailer. Those familiar with J. R.R. Tolkien’s original novel will recognize such things as the dwarfs barrel escape from the wood elves, the spiders of Mirkwood and just a hint of the titular dragon. There is also some glimpses of the additional story material that Jackson has added into the story from Tolkien’s notes and the Lord Of The Rings appendices.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens December 13.
