FilmBuffOnline » Pictures For The Complete Movie Fan Sun, 07 Dec 2014 15:19:12 +0000 en-US hourly 1 First Official Still From ANT-MAN Released Tue, 19 Aug 2014 18:42:55 +0000 AntManLogo Marvel isn’t being stingy with the promotion for Ant-Man. Even though production began just yesterday, we have our first official image from the film. Perhaps they figure if they show us enough about this film, we’ll forget the whole Edgar Wright debacle.

The studio has released its first still from the film, showing a rather grungy Scott Lang (Paul Rudd):

rudd as scott lang ant-manNot to gush too much over a promo pic, but the down and out nature of the character really shines through in the image. from  the old beater Ford van in the background to the bandages on his eyebrows.

Ant-Man is set to open on July 17, 2015.

AVENGERS:AGE OF ULTRON Promotional Blitz Begins Wed, 16 Jul 2014 21:41:34 +0000 AvengersAgeOfUltronLogoOnce upon a time, back in the old days, Hollywood started a big promotional blitz for its upcoming blockbuster fare at San Diego Comic Con. Nowadays, that’s passe. What you need to do is start promoting your film the week BEFORE San Diego Comic Con. Case in point: Marvel has started a major promotional push for Avengers: Age of Ultron this week.

The big push comes from Entertainment Weekly, who is taking its annual one week break from throwing shade on anything comic book film related to publish its Comic-Con issue. And Avengers: Age of Ultron is the cover feature. And that cover gives us our first official look at the film’s titular villain, Ultron.

EW Avengers 2 coverSee that blurb that reads “Iron Man’s Master Plan,” well, the magazine is willing to spoil that for us:

For better or worse (trust us, it’s worse), his Tony Stark has devised a plan that won’t require him to put on the Iron Man suit anymore, and should allow Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk to get some much needed R&R as well. His solution is Ultron, self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark’s Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead.

The only problem? Ultron (played by James Spader through performance-capture technology) lacks the human touch, and his superior intellect quickly determines that life on Earth would go a lot smoother if he just got rid of Public Enemy No. 1: Human beings. “Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’” Whedon says, rubbing his hands together.

“He’s on a mission,” the filmmaker adds, and smiles thinly. “He wants to save us.”

So we now have confirmation that it’s Tony Stark, not Hank Pym, who creates Ultron. And no Iron Man 4 to explore the repercussions of that actions.

The also has a number of official stills from the film, including the cast’s “wardrobe”:

Obviously this is a staged photo. But it does tell us that Nick Fury will be making his appearance known.

Next, we have Cap and Thor visiting what looks like a suburban home:

Joss Whedon directing Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner:

Our official first look at Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in costume and in action:

And a picture of the rumored party, with our official confirmation that Don Cheadle will indeed be in the film:

In contrast, Kevin Feige’s interview with IGN seems anti-climatic, but in it he does reveal the changes to Stark Tower to make it the Avengers Tower:

Last time we saw Stark Tower, from The Avengers, it had gotten beat up a little bit thanks to Hulk and thanks to Loki and the Chituari, and Pepper and Tony were standing over a table looking at plans. That’s where we pulled out and all the letters had fallen away except the ‘A’ in Stark. So what they were doing was retro-fitting for The Avengers. And that’s what we see in this next film.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is gone – for people who are following along. S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded and brought down at the end of The Winter Soldier because it turned out to not be the best organization ever. So Tony’s bank-rolling The Avengers now. And he’s bank-rolling their headquarters. So it’s now Avengers Tower.

Tony designed it so in addition to a hanger for a brand-new Quinjet, laboratories, places where he can build and store his Iron Man suits, there are I believe two bars. Beautiful multiple space living rooms which are perfect for parties and social gatherings. But it’s a primary location in the film this time around.

What? You thought that when Tony destroyed all of his suits at the end of Iron Man 3 that it would be last you’d see of them?

Speaking of Iron Man suits, Feige also confirmed that we would be seeing the Hulkbuster suit of armor we saw in design paintings, and he teases us that we’ll see more:

There are a lot of scenes that you should be getting excited about. That is certainly one of them. I think I said a long time ago when Joss [Whedon] first did his six-page or 10-page outline for Avengers, there was a lot of work and the movie’s adapted quite a bit since then, but there were like six or seven signature things just in that. I said ‘Joss, even if we don’t do anything else. Just do these seven things, that’s enough for the movie. Now let’s get to work and put it all together.’ Those things are in the movie and are amazing, of which that sequence is one.

It seems like Avengers: Age of Ultron is gearing up to be an epic movie in scope. I’m sure there will be more scoop revealed in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which hits better newsstands on Friday and next week at Marvel’s panel at the San Diego Comic Con.

New Superman Image From BATMAN V. SUPERMAN Released Thu, 03 Jul 2014 14:25:15 +0000 superman image smallSince Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is in production almost two years before it’s set to be released, we are going to have a long era of publicity to come pertaining to the movie. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you.

USA Today has an interview with Zack Snyder, complete with an official image of Henry Cavill as Superman. Here’s that image:

superman imageNo word on what fictional city Superman is standing in, Metropolis or Gotham. Before Warner’s mistaken idea that every DC Superhero Film needs to be grim and gritty, you would have been able to tell. Now, the pic of the glowering Kryptonian could realistically be taken in either location.

The interview itself is light on any real information but there are some tidbits of interest to be found:

  • Snyder explains why it’s Batman v. Superman instead of Batman vs, Superman: “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.” I take this to mean that it will be a fight of ideologies between the two in the film rather than a round of fisticuffs.
  • Snyder as shot several scenes with the Cavill and Affleck together.
  • However, he has not shot any scenes of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman yet. However, set photos have leaked of her on set, so he has filmed her as Diana Prince. Snyder reassures us that “she’s working out and getting buff and ripped.” Of course, she should already be buff and ripped by this point in shooting, so this reassurance isn’t all that reassuring.
  • The interview ends with this bon mot from Snyder: “You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it’s Batman and Superman, let’s just be honest. I don’t know how you get bigger than that.” Well, we’ll see what audiences will be talking about when it opens against Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016.

KINGSMAN:THE SECRET SERVICE Trailer, Poster Hit The Internet Tue, 20 May 2014 23:31:54 +0000 kingsman-duoWith the precision of a military raid run by a secret government organization, the producers of Kingsman: The Secret Service have made a multi-front attack today as the opening salvo in their promotion of the movie.

The film, originally titled simply The Secret Service, tell the tale of a young British street thug who is welcomed into a James Bond-ish spy network. It is based on a comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons and is brought to the screen by the same man who brought Millar’s Kick-Ass to the big screen, Matthew Vaughn.

Part one of the promotional blitz is the official trailer for the film, which you can see here:

Part two is an interview between the film’s star, Colin Firth, and Entertainment Weekly where the star gushes over the experience of working on the film. The interview comes with exclusive images from the fiolm:

kingsman-firth with gun kingsman-Michael Caine kingsman-firth stairs kingsman-sam jackson kingsman-firth suits kingsman-duoIt’s here where we catch a glimpse of cast members Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson. I love the fact that comic book adaptations are able to get two Oscar winners and an Oscar nominee in their casts.

And finally, we get a glimpse at the rather elegant teaser poster for the film:

They came on strong and definitely have got my attention. I’m sure we’ll get even more promotion before the film opens on October 24, 2014.

Now Zack Snyder Tweets Full Look At The Batmobile…And Batman!!!! Tue, 13 May 2014 18:25:03 +0000 man and mobile sneak peekYou got to hand it to him, Zack Snyder is a man of his word. When he teases a better look at something, he delivers. Not only that, he gives you a little bit more.

Yesterday, the Batman vs. Superman director gave us a tweet with a small glimpse of what the new Batmobile looks like, but the car was mostly covered with a tarp. He did promise a better look today and he did deliver. Not only did we get a better look at the vehicle…but also its driver!

It’s so cute that he tells us what camera he used. Like the fans will even care.

Anyway, here is the picture again. Click to make it bigger.

batman-vs-superman-ben-affleck-batmobileNot exactly a clear, full look, but enough to make snap judgements on. Yesterday, I said the car looked like the baby of the Burton Batmobile and Nolan’s Tumbler. This makes that comparison seem more on the nose. Look at the canopy on this version and the one on the 1989 Batmobile:

There’s a similarity right? Now, on to Batfleck. Thanks to Twitter user Adam Hlavac and his judicious use of Photoshop, we have a lighter view of Batman which shows off more detail of the suit:

ben-affleck-batman-image-batman-vs-superman So,  the muscles are back to being part of the suit? Alright, then.

Dark-Knight-Returns-Batman-StatueThe new Batsuit, like the Batmobile, appears to be a marriage of the Burton Batsuits, the Nolan Batsuits, and Batman’s costume from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comic book, seen to the right as a collectable statue. Note the tiny ears on the cowl, the accents on the gloves and the oversized bat on the chest.  The comic book design has carried over onto the new Batsuit. Snyder has said he was taking that comic book into consideration while making this movie, and we can see the proof right here.

And I don’t want to hate on Ben Affleck, but he’s got to work on his brooding. I think he’s trying to go for moody introspection here, but it looks more like he just trying to remember where he left his car keys.

Batman vs. Superman, or whatever it will eventually be called, is scheduled to open on May 6, 2016.

Zack Snyder Gives Peek At BATMAN VS SUPERMAN’S Batmobile Mon, 12 May 2014 18:27:32 +0000 Batmobile sneak peekZack Snyder is taking a page from Bryan Singer when it comes to promoting your movie. Singer’s regular Tweets from the X-Men: Days of Future Past set raised fan interest for that film to a fever pitch, and it looks like Snyder is trying the same tactics to raise interest in Batman vs Superman.

The director went to Twitter today to tease fans by giving them a sneak peek at what the iconic Batmobile will look like in the film.

Let’s take a bigger look at what we can actually see of the vehicle (Click to make bigger).

batman-vs-superman-batmobileNot much to see, except that it looks like the Burton and Nolan Batmobiles had a baby.

Will we get a full reveal tomorrow? We’ll see.

Images, Teaser Trailer For PEANUTS Released Tue, 18 Mar 2014 21:18:34 +0000 chuck andsnoopyIf you were like me, the Peanuts gang were a fundamental part of your life. You grew up reading the comic strips in your local paper, own books of collecting the strips that you read over and over again, and looked forward to every holiday for the annual TV show featuring that lovable cast of characters.

And if you are like me, you tend to view Hollywood’s insistence on revisiting these characters from you youth with a mix of cynicism and disdain because you know it won’t be the same as your memories, and the changes will only make things worse.

However, strangely enough, I’m not getting that feeling here. Granted, it is only two pictures and a short teaser trailer, but you can see that the makers of the 3-D animated version of Charles Shulz’s  famous creations took a painstaking amount of time to capture the look and feel of Shulz’s two-dimensional art in their final product, and seem to have captured the tone of the humor as well.

Take a look for yourself. One image is above, one below and at the bottom, the teaser.

Peanuts is set to arrive in theaters on November 6, 2015.

Do New Images Of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Offer A Glimpse Of The Scarlet Witch? Mon, 24 Feb 2014 20:27:03 +0000 So, people were wondering that since Fox stole Marvel’s thunder by putting Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past before Marvel could use him in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, would they do the same for his twin sister, Wanda aka the Scarlet Witch? According to French site Les Toiles Heroiques, they might have done just that.

If you click on that link, you’ll see a whole bunch of new still from and behind the scenes looks from the new movie. But one pic stands out in particular:
XMenDaysofFuturePast022414_4That, of course, is Evan Peters, who is playing Quicksilver in the Bryan Singer directed film. That little girl? Cinema Blend seems to think that the French site is saying that that is Quicksilver’s sister Wanda. So that is how the Scarlet Witch will look in this film.

It appears that, unless there is a plot point where one matures slower/faster than the other, the pair in this film are no longer twins. Fox should be thankful then that Marvel is going to present the pair in a way that more matches up with the comics, because that will only mitigate the fan outrage that would have hit if this was the only version of Wanda on film.

Of course, this might not be Wanda. It could be that Quicksilver runs an afterschool babysitting service for the parents in his neighborhood. We’ll see in May when Day of Future Past opens.

Sentinels, Quicksilver And More On Empire’s DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Cover Variants Mon, 27 Jan 2014 18:27:39 +0000 DaysOfFuturePastLogo

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Britain’s Empire Magazine is unveiling 25 cover variants for their anniversary issue, each featuring a character from the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Many of the covers feature heroes and villains we’ve already seen throughout the X-Men Franchise – Magneto, Professor Xavier, Beast, Mystique, etc. But there are a few covers featuring our first good looks at several new characters including the speedster Quicksilver and the robotic Sentinels. Empire is still rolling these out on their website at a rate of one per hour, so we’ll update should more new characters make their appearance.

New DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Character Portraits Including Bishop And Colossus Fri, 19 Jul 2013 15:23:36 +0000 Twentieth Century Fox is certainly pushing out the information about next summer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past this week. Yesterday, they unveiled what the robotic, mutant hunting Sentinels will like in the film at San Diego Comic Con and now we have the release of a number of character portraits from the film.

From top to bottom we have Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Omar Sy as Bishop, Daniel Cudmore as Colossus, Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto and Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier.

Why the info blitz? I would imagine that this is Fox just warming up for their presentation on the movie at San Diego Comic Con later this weekend. We’ll see.
