FilmBuffOnline » Trailer For The Complete Movie Fan Sun, 07 Dec 2014 15:19:12 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Here’s A Leaked Unfinished Trailer For TED 2 Mon, 01 Dec 2014 11:36:28 +0000 Ted1

Looks like Sony wasn’t the only studio to have something leaked over the weekend as someone has posted an unfinished trailer for Universal’s Ted 2. While the trailer does give away a bit of what the plot to the sequel to the 2012 comedy hit will be about, it is also interesting in that many shots featuring the living teddy bear (voiced by director and co-screenwriter Seth MacFarlane) are in various forms of completion. It’s an interesting behind-the-scenes peek. Enjoy it before the Universal lawyers get it pulled down.

Ted 2 hits theaters on June 26, 2015.

Looking Back at The First Six STAR WARS Films’ Teaser Trailers Fri, 28 Nov 2014 11:26:35 +0000 StarWarsSaga

As we wait for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer to be rolled out later today, let’s take a look back at the first teaser trailers for all six previous Star Wars films. Spanning nearly three decades, it is interesting to see how the art of cutting a trailer has changed over time.

With phrases like “.. A boy, a girl and a universe” and “… a billion years in the making,” I dare say that the teaser for the first film shows that Twentieth Century Fox’s marketing department had absolutely no idea what it was trying to sell to people. Though to be fair, the trailer was probably put together while the film was still being edited, a time when it very famously did not have quite the pace and tone that we associate with it now. The Empire Strikes Back‘s teaser is notable for its abundant use of production art and photographs. There’s not an actual moving image from the film in the whole one minute, twenty-six second run time. Also, there’s no “Episode V.” Meanwhile, Return Of The Jedi‘s first teaser is still using the film’s original Revenge Of The Jedi title.

Of the prequel trilogies, I would say that the teaser for Attack Of The Clones stands out the most for its stylistic use of just the iconic sound of Darth Vader’s breathing apparatus and very little else over images from the film. Running a close second would be the teaser for Revenge Of The Sith thanks to the use of Alec Guiness’s dialogue from the first Star Wars film recounting Darth Vader’s backstory (from “a certain point of view” of course.”)

New Trailer For THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES Brings On The Spectacle Thu, 06 Nov 2014 23:56:43 +0000 HobbitBattleoftheFiveArmies

If this week’s release of the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug wasn’t enough to whet your appetites for December’s upcoming release of the final installment of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J R R Tolkien’s novel, then how about this – A new trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. The trailer forgoes showing much action from the film’s opening scenes in which those of us who have read the book know will feature the attack of the dragon Smaug on Laketown. Instead, it gives us lots of views of what will make up the two big big conflicts that will climax the story – the battle between Gandalf and the other wizards against the Necromancer in Dol Guldor and battle between dwarves, elves, orcs, men and more on the slopes of the Lonely Mountain.

And with the film just six weeks away from its December 17th release date, I do bittersweetly note that this is very likely the last time will be teased with visions of what Peter Jackson has in store for us.

UPDATED: First AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer Is Here! Wed, 22 Oct 2014 23:26:22 +0000 Avengers-Ultron

Update: Rather than try and put the toothpaste back in the tube, Marvel has decided to just go ahead and officially release the trailer early, so there’s a new, better quality embed below.

Last night Marvel Studios announced that they would be premiering the first trailer for next April’s The Avengers: Age Of Ultron next Tuesday during that evening’s episode of Agents Of SHIELD. Well, that plan appears to be scuttled as the trailer has now shown up online. We’ll be back in a bit with a deeper analysis of the 2 minute clip, but for now, enjoy your first look at this film’s Quicksilver in action, Hulkbuster armor, our first listen to how James Spader sounds as Ultron and more.

First Trailer For Paul Thomas Anderson’s INHERENT VICE Brings Some Laughs Tue, 30 Sep 2014 11:00:12 +0000 InherentVice1

Now I’ll grant you that writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson and actor Joaquin Phoenix are not at the top of my list when it comes to movie comedies. I’m reasonably sure that until I saw this first trailer for their upcoming collaboration Inherent Vice, they were no near even being on that list. But the two-minute tease for the upcoming film certainly shows that the two have come together for a rather quirky adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel that has suddenly become one of my most anticipated films of the rest of the year.

Here’s the official studio synopsis of the film –

“Inherent Vice” is the seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel. When private eye Doc Sportello’s ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a looney bin…well, easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” that’s being way too overused – except this one usually leads to trouble. With a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD Detectives, a tenor sax player working undercover, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists… Part surf noir, part psychedelic romp – all Thomas Pynchon.

The film opens in limited release on December 12.

SDCC: Kevin Smith Premiers TUSK trailer Sat, 26 Jul 2014 10:50:33 +0000 KevinSmith

Kevin Smith is known mainly for his string of indie comedies, but those who have seen his 2011 film Red State know that he has a largely untapped flair for horror and suspense. Smith has gone back to that well for Tusk, the story of a podcaster who has an interview turn horribly wrong on him, a story that started off as a discussion on one of Smith’s podcasts. The results, at least what we see below, are fairly impressive. Smith’s humor hasn’t completely deserted him for the film though. Take note of the shot of the two female Canadian convenient store clerks. The wall behind them is completely filled with just maple syrup and the store they work at is called “Eh 2 Zed.”

Tusk hits theaters September 19.

See The Unfinished THE DEATH OF ‘SUPERMAN LIVES': WHAT HAPPENED? Documentary Trailer Fri, 25 Jul 2014 17:17:34 +0000 BurtonSupermanLivesWhat is it about San Diego Comic Con time and unfinished documentaries about unseen comic book films?

Last year, Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s Fantastic Four was looking for backers around this time. Now, it’s a documentary about the failed attempt by Tim Burton and Nicolas Cage to bring Superman Lives to the screen.

The film is titled The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? and will be done by producer/director Jon Schnepp. Schnepp has created a trailer for the film, and we see immediately that he has already spoken to many of the players from that project, including Burton, initial screenwriter Kevin Smith, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, production designer Rick Heinrichs, screenwriter Wesley Strick, costume designer Colleen Atwood, special effects supervisor Steve Johnson, storyboard artist Tim Burgard, and associate producer Derek Frey, with comic book writer Grant Morrison interviewed to provide context.

Schepp also got his hands on more of the legendary test footage Nicolas Cage shot for the project, including a shot of him flying. There is also a lot of unseen production art on display.

Schnepp is trying to raise the final $85,000 he needs to complete post production on the documentary. Currently, he has $7,332 of that on a fundraiser on the Fan Backed website. And, as is typical with this sort of fundraiser, there are rewards attached to certain donation levels ranging from getting you name in the end credits for $25 to becoming a producer for $25,000 which entitles you to every other perk from every other tier plus busts of Nicolas Cage and Brainiac from the movie.

New Extended GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trailer Tue, 08 Jul 2014 14:25:07 +0000 GuardiansoftheGalaxyLogo

James Gunn just finished work on the film yesterday, the film has not yet been rated, but since the release is less than a month away, we get a new extended trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.

This trailer goes a little bit more into the motivation for the team, gives us a better look at Lee Pace as the villain Ronan, a quick glimpse of Michael Rooker as Yondu, all set to the Runaway’s “Cherry Bomb.”

I can’t say that I am entirely on board with the film as of yet, but I do see a lot of good things in the trailer. Let’s hope the good things outnumber the bad in the finished film.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1,2014.

International GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Trailer Shows A Film You Might Actually Want To See Tue, 17 Jun 2014 20:53:01 +0000 GuardiansoftheGalaxyLogoHumor has always been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but always in measured doses and not in such a way that it takes away from the story. Guardians of the Galaxy appeared to change that trend, as every bit of promotional material they gave us seem to indicate that we’d be getting a film that more resembled Welcome Back, Kotter than The Avengers.

Thankfully, Marvel has released an international trailer for GotG, and this version seems more in line with their previous output:

Brendon Connolly over at Bleeding Cool thinks this trailer has a Firefly feel to it, which I can see.  And I also agree with him that this is a good thing.

I’m also tickled by there being more Rocket Raccoon in this version. It seems like Marvel realizes that Rocket is going to be the biggest thing to come out of this movie, and is playing that up.

KINGSMAN:THE SECRET SERVICE Trailer, Poster Hit The Internet Tue, 20 May 2014 23:31:54 +0000 kingsman-duoWith the precision of a military raid run by a secret government organization, the producers of Kingsman: The Secret Service have made a multi-front attack today as the opening salvo in their promotion of the movie.

The film, originally titled simply The Secret Service, tell the tale of a young British street thug who is welcomed into a James Bond-ish spy network. It is based on a comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons and is brought to the screen by the same man who brought Millar’s Kick-Ass to the big screen, Matthew Vaughn.

Part one of the promotional blitz is the official trailer for the film, which you can see here:

Part two is an interview between the film’s star, Colin Firth, and Entertainment Weekly where the star gushes over the experience of working on the film. The interview comes with exclusive images from the fiolm:

kingsman-firth with gun kingsman-Michael Caine kingsman-firth stairs kingsman-sam jackson kingsman-firth suits kingsman-duoIt’s here where we catch a glimpse of cast members Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson. I love the fact that comic book adaptations are able to get two Oscar winners and an Oscar nominee in their casts.

And finally, we get a glimpse at the rather elegant teaser poster for the film:

They came on strong and definitely have got my attention. I’m sure we’ll get even more promotion before the film opens on October 24, 2014.
