In Remembrance: Edward S. Waters Edward S. Waters, the screenwriter who penned the 1961 drama Man Trap, has passed away on November 9, 2004 in Santa Monica, CA. He was 74. Born on in New York, NY in 1930, Waters graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. He served in the Navy, rising to the rank of lieutenant. In 1954, he moved to Los Angeles, landing a job as a staff writer at CBS television. In 1957, he wrote the screenplay for the Roger Corman exploitation film Sorority Girl starring Corman regulars Susan Cabot and Dick Miller. His next film was 1961’s Man Trap, which was produced, directed by and starred his uncle actor Edmond O’Brien. He also scripted the heist comedy Caper Of The Golden Bulls (1967) with Yvette and Stephen Boyd. In 1970 he adapted Darker Than Amber (1970), which starred Rod Taylor as novelist's John D. MacDonald's sleuth Travis McGee. Waters career shifted towards writing for television, contributing over 100 scripts to series as various as Combat!, Kraft Suspense Theatre, The FBI, Manix, Kung Fu, Police Story, and Jake And The Fat Man. He served as a writer/producer on Beretta and as a producer on T J Hooker and The Equalizer.
