In Remembrance: Lynn Lemon
Reverend Lynn
Lemon, one of a group of Baptist investors who put money into Ed
Wood Jr.’s Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959) and who would also
have a small role in the film, has passed away on January 15, 2008
in Bedford, Texas. He was 90.
Lemon was
convinced by fellow pastor J. Edward Reynolds to invest in a film
that Woods was planning called Grave Robbers From Outer Space.
The plan was for profits from the film be applied towards the
production of a biopic of early 20th century evangelist
Billy Sunday and other Christian-themed films. However, Plan 9
From Outer Space, as the film was eventually titled, was a
financial flop, the other projects never materialized and the
investors never recouped their losses. Lemon, however, was cast by
Wood in the film to play the minister officiating at the funeral of
the police inspector played by hulking actor Tor Johnson.
Rev. Lemon also
appeared in 1973’s Invasion Of The Bee Girls, again playing a
minister at a funeral. He got the role by virtue of working for the
cemetery that Bee Girls director Denis Sanders wanted to film
