15th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival By Rich Drees With the addition of a new screening venue and two new program tracks, the Philadelphia Film Festival enters its 15th year as one of the biggest and most diverse film festivals on the East Coast. The Cinema at Penn joins two other screening locations in Philadelphia's University City section and raises the festival total screen count to seven, while new programming tracks devoted to music and family-friendly films join the festival's previous series centered on documentaries, cinema from Latin and Muslim countries, American independents and the popular Danger After Dark series.
(March 31) The 15th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival opened with a screening of Akeelah And The Bee with star Laurence Fishburne and writer/director Doug Atchison in attendance.
(April 7) The writer/director screens and talks about his seldom seen counterculture satire.
