BAFTA Award Nominees Announced

     January 20, 2006- Political thriller The Constant Gardner leads the nominations as the British Academy of Film and Television announced the nominees for their annual British Academy Film Awards announced yesterday.

 

     Gardner garnered a total of 10 nominations including Best Actor and Actress nods for stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, Best Director for Fernando Meirelles and Best Adapted Screenplay for Jeffrey Caine.

 

     Director Ang Lee’s homosexual cowboy drama Brokeback Mountain earned a total of nine nominations including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for star Heath Ledger and Best Supporting Actor and Actress for stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams.

 

     Rounding out the nominees in the Best Film category are the bio-pic Capote, Crash and George Clooney’s examination of journalist Edward R. Murrow’s confrontation with Senator Joseph McCarthy Good Night, And Good Luck.

 

     The British Academy Film Awards will be awarded on February 19, 2006 in London.
