Han Shoots First, Again:
In announcement
that has taken fans by surprise, director George Lucas has announced
that the theatrical release versions of the original Star Wars
trilogy will finally be made available on DVD later this year.
Originally, Lucas had deemed that the re-edited “Special Editions”
of the films released in 1997 would be the only versions of the
films available, essentially turning the original versions into
“lost films.” You can read the complete FilmBuffOnLine
coverage here.
Roadshow Brings Films To Location:
Online DVD
rental company Netflix is sponsoring a ten-city film event,
screening a classic film in one of the locations it was filmed.
Jaws fans can catch the film on the beach in Martha’s Vineyard,
MA where the shark attack thriller was filmed, while Escape From
Alcatraz will screen at the film’s San Francisco namesake
prison. You can find the complete Roadshow itinerary
here.
Deja View:
Director Kyle Newman has signed to direct a remake of the 1984
comedy Revenge Of The Nerds. Adam F. Goldberg is handling the
script chores. Reportedly, director Kevin Smith had been previously
offered the director’s chair, but passed. . . Warner Brothers has
announced that writer Travis Beacham is scripting a remake of the
1981 cult classic Clash Of The Titans, with Firewall’s
Basil Iwanyk producing.
