New Releases: October 28, 2016

new-releases-inferno-poster1. Inferno (Sony/Columbia, 3,576 Theaters, 121 Minutes, Rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence, disturbing images, some language, thematic elements and brief sensuality, Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer at press time: 19% Fresh [156 Reviews]): Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) wakes up in an Italian hospital with no memory of how he got there. Soon, assassins attack and he and a lovely young doctor (Felicity Jones) go on the run.

The pair soon finds out that they are embroiled in an evil plan by an eccentric, Dante-loving billionaire (Ben Foster) to release a virus that will cull the world’s population down to manageable levels. Langdon must use his knowledge of Dante to follow the clues the billionaire left behind to find the virus in time.

This is the most unlikeliest of franchises. You would think following a college professor around the world would not be exciting enough for one movie, let alone three. But it survived that–and horrible reviews and Hank’s hair in the first film–to make over a billion dollars worldwide. I’m sure this film will just add to the tally.
