Location for Marvel Studios’ The Avengers began over the weekend in Cleveland standing in for Manhattan. The first bit of footage shot looked to be some second unit work with a large crowd running down East 9th Street away from the sound of gun fire. A little later a large series of explosions were shot as well. Although none of the filming involved the cast though Chris Evans, Captain America himself, stopped by to watch.
