Joss Whedon Thought About Directing STAR WARS But Then Remembered His Other Job

Joss Whedon is one of the the go-to names among fans to direct any popular genre project. And with good reason as last summer’s The Avengers is a testament to.

But would you believe that there are some projects out there that even Joss Whedon would like to see Joss Whedon direct? Well there are and one such project is the upcoming new Star Wars films. CNN caught up with the director who confessed that he thought about the prospect of applying for the job telling new stories in a galaxy far, far away but then realized he already had a full time position over seeing Marvel Studios’ “Phase Two” of their superhero franchises.

When I heard that I was like, ‘I wonder… no, I really can’t do that. Oh, I already have a job.’ I wouldn’t clear the Avengers. I’m having so much fun with that sequel right now, just with the script, that I couldn’t imagine not doing it.

As to what Whedon thought he could have brought to the franchise he stated –

I’d like to see a little edge. We all missed the Han [Solo] of it. It got very portentous, which was justified by the story, but I think we’d all like to see a little anarchy in the mix.

Well, I suppose that Star Wars‘s loss is Marvel Studios’s gain.
