DOCTOR WHO’s Karen Gillan To Star As GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Villain

Christopher Eccleston in Thor: The Dark World, Karen Gillan here. I wonder where Marvel is going to cast David Tennant, Billie Piper or Matt Smith.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Gillan, who starred as the popular companion Amy Pond on BBC’s Doctor Who from 2010 to 2012, will be joining Guardians of the Galaxy in the as yet unnamed role of a lead villain of the film.

It’s anybody’s guess who she will be playing. She could be playing Nebula, she could be playing Thanos’ consort, Death. Who knows?

But let’s throw out a hypothesis, shall we? Okay, we know Michael Rooker is playing Yondu, who in this film is a villain but in comics was a Guardian. Lee Pace is also playing a villain who apparently turns to the side of good and is being set up for a spin-off. He was also rumored to be in the running for the leader of the Guardians when casting began. The Guardians had two leaders: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Vance Astro. Astro was Yondu’s team leader. Gillan has fiery red hair. Astro’s and Yondu’s teammate Nikki had hair made of fire.

Could the present day comic book Guardians be facing off against the future-set comic book Guardians?
