The Avengers was Marvel Studios’ big team-up of nearly all their cinematic superheroes. We say nearly all, as there was notable absence – actor Don Cheadle’s Iron Man 2 character of Colonel James Rhodes, aka War Machine. Well, fans who couldn’t get enough of the character from the Iron Man films will be happy to learn that he will be making an appearance in 2015’s Avengers sequel, The Age Of Ultron.
Multiple reports are coming out stating that Cheadle will be returning for the sequel. Bleeding Cool kicked off the reportage with USA Today and Hit Fix confirming from their own sources.
Outside of the titular villain Ultron being involved, plot details for the new film are pretty scarce. We know that in addition to the roster of Avengers we saw in the first film, superheroes Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will be joining the action. There has been no official word yet as to how Ultron’s origin will be handled, but if rumors stating that it will be tied into the technology of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), it makes sense that his friend Rhodey, whose own powered suit of armor is one of Stark’s old Iron Man suits, would wind up getting involved in the story. It may be far too early to say how big a capacity that involvement might be, though Hit Fix is reporting that it is a “key role in the conflict with Ultron that is the main focus of the sequel.”
Filming on The Avengers: Age Of Ultron gets started next March in London for the film’s May 1, 2015 release.

Whew!!
I was so worried that they would ruin the entire series by not having Don Cheadle in it… Now I can sleep better!
