The First Trailer For Toho’s GODZILLA RESURGENCE IS Here

If you can’t wait the two years it will be before the next Hollywood-made Godzilla film graces our screens, the King of All Monster’s home studio, Toho has a new coming this summer, Shin Godzilla, aka Godzilla Resurgence. Of course, it is set to be released in Japan and doesn’t have a US distributor, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy the trailer for the film that was released today.

First up,the glimpses we get of the Big G confirm that authenticity of the leaked photos that appeared online back at the beginning of the year showing a much rawer, scarred monster, as much a victim of radiation as he is a creation of radiation. There’s not much footage of Godzilla in total here – Much of it is a series of shots of very serious looking Japanese actors – but what we do get gives us an idea as what directors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi are planning on breaking to the table in the film. (And is that another monster moving into position behind Godzilla in one shot?)

Take a look –

According to kaiju expert August Ragone at the Good, The Bad And Godzilla blog, the press release that accompanied the release of the trailer has the studio boasting of –

– the inclusion of 328 well-known actors in supporting and cameo appearances, including:

Kengo Kora (The Mourner), Ren Osugi (Hana-bi), Akira Emoto (Shall We Dance?), Kimiko Yo (Departures), Jun Kunimura (Gojoe), Mikako Ichikawa (Rampo Noir), Pierre Taki (Samurai Fiction), Takumi Saito (13 Assassins), Keisuke Koide (Cyborg She), Arata Furuta (Apartment 1303), Atsuko Maeda (The Complex), just for starters.

Godzilla Resurgence stamps onto the shores of Japan on July 29. We’ll let you know when a US distributor acquires the film.
