And The Next Film From Hayao Miyazaki Is Called…

Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru ka aka How Do You Guys Live?

Anime legend Hayao Miyazaki made the reveal of his latest animated project at the opening of the Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum at Tokyo’s Waseda University.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film won’t quite be an adaption of the 1937 novel by Genzaburo Yoshino. Instead, the Reporter quotes Miyazaki as stating “The film is about how this particular book featured prominently in the protagonist’s life. It will take three to four years to complete the anime.”

Miyazaki announced his retirement in 2012, as he was completing his last feature, The Wind Rises. Much like Steven Soderburgh’s announced retirement, it didn’t stick and last year Miyazaki announced that he was working on the feature whose title he revealed this week.

There is no word yet on a release date or any US distribution.
