First Official Image From Todd Phillips’ JOKER Realeased

Todd Phillips has begun shooting his Joker film and set photos have already started hitting the Internet. Surely as a response to that, the director has released the first official image of Joaquin Phoenix from the film on his Instagram.

Now, if you haven’t seen the image yet, well, grab your socks and pull up tight. This image will challenge your perceptions of the Joker forever. Prepare to have your world rocked.

Yes, it a bold move, having the first image of the actor playing a character known for its manic energy look like he accidentally drank a bottle of chardonnay after taking a fistful of Ambien. But I’m sure this first image just shows the character before he begins his journey into madness. Yeah, that has to be it.

But seriously, I know it’s hard to judge the what a movie will end up being like by the first publicity photo. It’s just puzzling why of all the images filmed that this was the one they wanted to be officially released to the public first. It’s not very enticing an image for the film, in my opinion. It doesn’t really tell you much about the character, the world he lives in or the plot of the story. All it scream is that this film might consider itself more artistic than it needs to be.

Joker is set to open October 4, 2019.
