SOUTH PARK Returning With 1-Hour “Pandemic Special”

South Park will be returning to Comedy Central in two weeks with a hour special taking on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The special, titled appropriately enough “The Pandemic Special,” is set to premier on Wednesday, September 30 at 8pm. The episode is a one-off special, separate from the show’s upcoming 24th season, whose launch has not yet been scheduled.

Comedy Central released a trailer for the special below.

Here’s the plot synopsis for the special via a Comedy Central press release –

Randy comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak as the on-going pandemic presents continued challenges to the citizens of South Park. The kids happily head back to school but nothing resembles the normal that they once knew; not their teachers, not their homeroom, not even Eric Cartman.

The show is no stranger to telling stories that exceed its normal 30-minute run time, having had plots that spread across two, three and even an entire season’s worth of episodes. But this is the first time that the show has expanded to a full hour’s length.
