When it was leaked<\/a> over the weekend that Sony was going to offer Emma Stone a role in their upcoming Spider-Man reboot, it was assumed that the red-haired actress was going to play the part of Peter Parker’s red-haired future wife Mary Jane Watson, and the other actresses, all blonds, currently being considered for the film were up for the role of Peter’s blond high school sweetheart Gwen Stacey.<\/p>\n

Well, a press release from Sony earlier today flipped that expectation on its head with the studio announcing that an offer has been given to Stone, but for the role of Gwen Stacey.<\/p>\n

As director Marc Webb stated in the release –<\/p>\n

The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stone’s not a natural redhead? Turns out the one time she was sporting her natural hair color was in the comedy The Rocker and every role since then has been a dye job. Of course, that leaves the possibility that Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott, all blondes, are actually being considered for the role of Mary Jane.
