\"\"<\/a>Every now and then it seems that a number of studios are working on very similar projects and that there’s a race to see who gets to theaters first. Some of the more classic examples were the summers when we got two volcano disaster movies (Dante’s Peak and Volcano) and duelling end of the world epics (Deep Impact and Armageddon).<\/p>\n

Currently, we have a number of studios<\/a> attempting to get a project based off of author L Frank Baum’s famous Oz fantasy novels into theaters. And now it looks like another such race is heating up as Tarsem Singh has been hired by Relativity to direct an adaptation of the classic fairy tale Snow White.<\/p>\n

Singh’s production will be racing against Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman<\/strong> and Walt Disney’s own, new live action version.<\/p>\n

Although the Relativity project does have a script by Melisa Wallack, Universal’s Snow White And The Hunstman has a bit of a lead with a script, a director in the form of Rupert Sanders as well as some casting in possible place in the form of Charlize Theron and Johnny Depp.<\/p>\n

This is going to be a tough race to pick sides on. I really liked the Snow White And The Huntsman<\/strong> script, but I’m also a fan of Singh’s incredible visual sensibility. Hopefully, this will be a case where audiences win two times.<\/p>\n
