The composer told The Province that he was gearing up to begin work on composing the music for director Peter  Jackson\u2019s two part adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien\u2019s <em>The Hobbit<\/em>, following up on  the work he did for Jackson\u2019s adaptation of Tolkien\u2019s <em>Lord Of The Rings<\/em> trilogy.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It looks like finally it\u2019s going to be happening. I\u2019ll be working on it for  the next three years \u2014 it\u2019s going to consume a lot of my time and work  now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Shore\u2019s work on the <strong>Lord Of The Rings<\/strong> films have been well received by fans  and critics alike for its evocative, lyric quality that suited the many varied  moods of the films. He has won two Academy Awards, for <strong>Fellowship Of The Rings<\/strong> and for <strong>Return Of the King<\/strong>, and the music has been performed in concert  settings.<\/p>\n<p>As <strong>The Hobbit<\/strong> is essentially a prequel to <strong>Lord Of The Rings<\/strong> (Yes, I know that  <strong>The Hobbit<\/strong> was written first and <strong>Lord Of The Rings<\/strong> is the literary sequel, but  we\u2019re talking cinematically here.), Shore will be able to take musical themes  that he composed for those movies and weave them into the new ones in a form of  retroactive foreshadowing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">Howard Shore is returning to Middle Earth.
