\"\"<\/a>Director Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech, the story of King George IV struggle to overcome a speech impediment following his unexpected succession to the throne of England, swept last night’s British Independent Film awards, winning five statues Best British Independent Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor for Colin Firth, Best Supporting ACtor for Geoffrey Rush and Best Supporting Actress for Helena Bonham Carter.<\/p>\n

Gareth Edwards won the prize for Best Director for his genre flick Monsters. The film also won two other awards for Best Technical Achievements for its visual effects and Best Achievement in Production.<\/p>\n

Raindance Award: “Son of Babylon”<\/p>\n
