\"\"<\/a>British actor Pete Postlethwaite, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Daniel Day-Lewis’ father in 1993’s In The Name Of The Father<\/strong>, has died Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Shropshire, England after a lengthy illness. He was 64.<\/p>\n

Postlethwaite managed a career that straddled both stage and screen work and his screen work spanned a wide variety of films. He appeared in such populist, blockbuster fare such as Alien 3<\/strong>, Jurassic Park: The Lost World<\/strong>, Clash Of The Titans<\/strong> and Inception<\/strong>. He also appeared in such dramatic films as Amistad<\/strong> and In The Name Of The Father<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

His 1996 Brassed Off<\/strong> has been credited with helping to inspire economic reform programs in England’s coalfield communities.<\/p>\n
