\"\"<\/a>For some time now, the James Bond series has been the longest running franchise in film history, launching back in 1962 with Dr. No<\/strong>. Some quick math tells us that it is now approaching its 50th anniversary. Well, MGM isn’t about to let that opportunity pass unremarked upon and so the studio is reportedly starting to plan how exactly they will mark that milestone.<\/p>\n

As to what exactly the studio will be doing there hasn’t been much of a hint, though it will all culminate with the release of the 23rd Bond film in November.<\/p>\n

Although unconfirmed, I would speculate that we will see the release of the rest of the Bond films on blu-ray. Currently only half of the 22 official entries in the series are on blu-ray as is the ersatz Sean Connery film Never Say Never Again<\/strong>. I would imagine that we will see a slew of collectables, toys, books and other things. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a rerelease of select titles to art house and revival theaters over the year.<\/p>\n
