\"greenlantern\"<\/a>Is the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern one step closer to making it to the big screen? The folks over at\u00a0First\u00a0Showing<\/a> seem to think so, based on a brief conversation they have had with the in development project’s producer Donald De Line.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, the De Line has told the site that “a new draft of the script came in” and that while they haven’t been given an official start date yet, they are “gearing up to start shooting early spring.”<\/p>\n

If this pans out, the film would mark the first of DC’s spandex clad heroes outside of the Superman and Batman books to get their own feature film. Previously, Green Lantern had been included in the on-again, off-again Justice League <\/strong>movie that Warner Brothers had been developing. Before that, comedy writer Robert Smigel had written a Green Lantern<\/strong> script with Jack Black in mind for the title role, a notion that raised a ruckus online when fans found out.<\/p>\n

According to reviews of some of the more recent script drafts for the film, Green Lantern<\/strong>will be a standard origin story for the character. Given that he doesn’t have the same recognition in the public’s consciousness as Superman or Batman does, it is probably a good idea to show how test pilot Hal Jordan was picked to wield a ring of immense power as part of a universal police force known as the Green Lantern Corps.<\/p>\n
