{"id":1358,"date":"2008-10-29T13:08:08","date_gmt":"2008-10-29T17:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=1358"},"modified":"2018-12-09T01:07:19","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T06:07:19","slug":"hellraiser-redo-gets-in-new-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2008\/10\/29\/hellraiser-redo-gets-in-new-director\/","title":{"rendered":"HELLRAISER Redo Gets In New Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/hellraiser.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1856\" style=\"FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand\" title=\"hellraiser\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/hellraiser-300x193.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a>When we last left the saga of Dimension Films&#8217; struggle to remake the Clive Barker horror classic Hellraiser, the sturio had just hired writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton to take a pass at the screenplay, as they weren&#8217;t too happy with the draft turned in by the project\u2019s co-directors, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it seems that Bustillo and Maury have left the film altogether, as <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> has announced that French director Pascal Laugier is in negotiations to helm the remake.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is a dream project for me. I know Clive Barker&#8217;s work very well, and I would never betray what he has done. Fans are expecting a definitive <strong>Hellraiser<\/strong>, and I don&#8217;t want to take that away from them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Encouraging words from Laugier, if it weren&#8217;t for the fact that many already consider Barker&#8217;s 1987 movie, adapted from his own short story &#8220;The Hell-Bound Heart,&#8221; to be fairly definitive in its own right.
