Yesterday, the studio announced that they have acquired the rights to Carolyn Turgeon&#8217;s book <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0307589978\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=filmbuffonlin-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349&amp;creativeASIN=0307589978\">Mermaid: A Twist on the Classic Tale<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0307589978&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399349\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The studio has picked up the book for <strong>Country Strong<\/strong> filmmaker Shana Feste to write and direct.<\/p>\n<p>Turgeon&#8217;s book recasts the original story into a love triangle with a handsome prince who must choose between a mermaid who has given up everything to be with him and a princess to whom marriage would put a stop to an ongoing war between their two kingdoms.<\/p>\n<p>Not having read the novel, I suppose that there is an interesting story here.
