\"\"<\/a>There’s been a flurry of activity in the casting of the dwarfs for Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman<\/strong>. First off, Ian McShane was announced<\/a> as taking the part of the lead dwarf Caesar on Tuesday. That announcement was quickly followed by word that Eddie Izzard, Toby Jones and Bob Hoskins were up for<\/a> another three of the roles.<\/p>\n

Ray Winstone is now also in negotiations with the studio to play one of the diminutive warriors in the film, Trajan. Also announced this week were the casting of Eddie Marsan and Stephen Graham as two other of the dwarfs, which brings us to a total of seven.<\/p>\n

But is there one more dwarf role yet to be cast?<\/p>\n

True, the traditional version of the fairy tale features seven dwarfs, but Evan Daugherty’s original script featured eight! So far, we know that the casting breaks down as follows –<\/p>\n

Caesar – Ian McShane
\nTiberius – Eddie Izzard
\nClaudius – Toby Jones
\nConstantine – Bob Hoskins
\nTrajan – Ray Winstone
\nHadrian – Eddie Marsan
\nNero – Stephen Graham<\/p>\n

That just leaves the youngest of the group Gus as yet uncast.<\/p>\n

Now the Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> stated that Winstone’s casting was the last for the dwarfs. Which leads us with two possibilities – 1) The Reporter<\/em> got it wrong by assuming that there would be only seven dwarfs in the film. This surprises me, since Daugherty’s original script has been fairly accessible given it’s placing on last year’s Black List of hot, as-yet-unproduced screenplays. 2) The recent rewrites to Daugherty’s screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos have eliminated the role.
