Not content to produce bad remakes of classic horror films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/strong>, The Amityville Horror<\/strong> and The Hitcher<\/strong>, Michael Bay is turning his questionable aptitude for such projects to a revamp of iconic summer camp slasher Friday The 13th<\/strong>, apparently having picked an accomplice, errr\u2026 director for the film.<\/p>\n

Former music video-turned-feature director Marcus Nispel, who had already collaborated with Bay on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/strong> remake, is being reported as the one who will take us all back to Crystal Lake. In addition to directing the Massacre<\/strong>-redux, Nispel also helmed the rather bad film Pathfinder<\/strong>, which was released earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The screenplay was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift who wrote the franchise crossover Freddy Vs Jason<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While the Friday The 13th<\/strong> franchise is well known for its seemingly unstoppable, hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees, most people tend to forget that the original 1980 film lacked the character. Will this new version be restructured to feature Jason or stick closer to the original\u2019s storyline? More importantly, if successful, will new sequels go in a new direction or can we look for the inevitable remake of Jason Takes Manhattan<\/strong>?<\/p>\n
