Last weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con, director Robert Rodriguez confirmed<\/a> that his planned live-action remake of the animated fantasy Fire And Ice<\/strong> was still on track and pre-production work was being done.<\/p>\n

EW<\/em><\/a> offers up a look at some of that production art (click on each picture below for a larger view.)and it definitely appears like Rodriguez is going to preserve the style of fantasy illustrator Frank Frazetta, who collaborated with director Ralph Bakshi to create the original film. If anything, it sounds like Rodriguez is taking a page from his own film Sin City<\/strong> and his collaboration with that comic’s creator Frank Miller for his approach here –<\/p>\n

I want it to look like you just stepped into one of his [Frazetta’s] paintings, where you get to see his world, and how he saw people, anatomy, and composition and color. It will feel like it\u2019s real, but not real. It\u2019ll be his<\/em> reality. He saw things differently. He painted from his imagination. He didn\u2019t take a photograph and just paint it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here’s the official plot description of the film –<\/p>\n

From his stronghold in Ice Peak, the evil Nekron sends forth a wave of deadly glaciers, forcing humanity to retreat to Fire Keep, a kingdom ruled by a generous king. When King Jarol\u2019s daughter Teegra is kidnapped, young warrior Larn teams with the mysterious and legendary Dark Wolf, to rescue the princess and the realm from Nekron\u2019s evil sorcery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
