\"\"<\/a>Never let it be said that the character of Conan the Barbarian let other people decide his fate for him. And Jason Momoa, who plays the Robert E Howard pulp character in the upcoming big screen adaption, seems to have taken that attitude as his own.<\/p>\n

When asked recently while doing the rounds of publicity for the film which opens August 19, Momoa stated that he has written his own story for a hoped-for sequel. As he told Crave<\/a> –<\/p>\n

It will mostly be\u2026 It\u2019s character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures, you know? […] We wanted to go there [in the first one], but having Clash of the Titans<\/strong>, and coming out against that, we wanted to put the budget into some other things. […] I don\u2019t want to give anything away, but we already have our Conan, really it\u2019s about the villain, what that villain is going to extract from Conan, and where as an actor I want to go with Conan. […] So, I think we have a good lock on it. Also, I feel it\u2019s beautiful\u2026 How many actors get to go in there and go, \u201cI\u2019m part of the writing process?\u201d and care that much about the character, because he is a fan himself? It\u2019s great. You know some people go like, \u201cIt\u2019s great, I\u2019m going to be in my trailer.\u201d I want to @#$%ing make a great Conan<\/strong> movie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I always regard the idea of an actor taking a crack at writing. In some cases, it can yield a really wonderful film thanks to their keen understanding of character and motivation. Other times, it can degenerate into an ego-driven mess. We’ll get to find out which one this story may be if in two weeks the box office for Conan The Barbarian<\/strong> is strong enough to warrant a sequel and the producers decide to give Momoa’s story a chance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
