\"\"<\/a>As director Robert Rodriguez begins to do the rounds of publicity for Spy Kids: All The Time in The World<\/strong>, it was of course inevitable that in addition to talking about his latest family film which opens next Friday, he\u2019ll be asked about the long promise sequels to his much more grown up films Sin City<\/strong> and Machete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At San Diego Comic-Con, Rodriguez stated that he had scripts ready for both projects. Now, just a few weeks later he has a slightly different story for We Got This Covered<\/a> –<\/p>\n

Sin City 2<\/strong> is going good, we\u2019re just finishing the script for that, we already got the money. We have everything we need so we can just start shooting as soon as we get the pages. And it\u2019s the same thing for Machete 2<\/strong>. We\u2019ve already got the budget, just waiting for the script. As soon as we\u2019re finished writing we get to start the shoot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What\u2019s confusing with this statement is that usually a script is completed and then a budget is set and financing secured. Here, it sounds like Rodriguez has the money in place for each film, but there was still some scripting being done. I would speculate that perhaps there are some script revisions being done based on the amount of financing that could locked down for each film.<\/p>\n

Still, if things come together as quickly as he makes them sound they will, it does look like we might have one if not both promised projects in theaters sometime next year<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
