\"\"<\/a>Another day, another Stephen King story.<\/p>\n

This time it is being reported that director Jonathan Demme has optioned the author\u2019s upcoming novel 11\/22\/63<\/em> with the hopes of writing, directing and producing an adaption of the story.<\/p>\n

Those of you who remember your basic American history, you will have no doubt identified the date as the day that President John F Kennedy was killed by an assassin\u2019s bullet in Dallas, Texas. (Notice I didn\u2019t name the assassin?)<\/p>\n

Stephen King\u2019s website<\/a> gives us a quick synopsis of the novel (preorder here),<\/a>\"\"which is due to be published in November \u2013<\/p>\n

Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of the students\u2014a gruesome, harrowing first person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning\u2019s father came home and killed his mother, his sister, and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.<\/p>\n

Not much later, Jake\u2019s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane\u2014and insanely possible\u2014mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake\u2019s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake\u2019s life\u2014a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While I\u2019m not much of a King fan, I have to admit that this does sound like it could be a fun story. We\u2019ll find out if it is good fodder for a big screen treatment later this fall when the novel hits store shelves.<\/p>\n
