The one that Robert Zemeckis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2010\/11\/18\/zemeckis-not-in-talks-for-wizard-of-oz-remake\/\" target=\"_blank\">met with Warners&#8217; brass<\/a> about but was never actually offered the job of directing? Well, now we know another director who was approached but passed on the project.<\/p>\n<p>Bleeding Cool is reporting that Terry Gilliam stated that he too was asked by Warners about heading up their Oz redo but declined as original director Victor &#8220;Fleming\u2019s film was fine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I have to say t hat I am a little disappointed that Gilliam didn&#8217;t want to do the film. The original MGM version&#8217;s structure of the main story ultimately being a dream Dorothy had (really, I don&#8217;t think this is a spoiler 72 years after the film came out) plays to themes that Gilliam has already explored in <strong>Time Bandits<\/strong>, <strong>Brazil<\/strong> and <strong>The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen<\/strong>.
