\"\"<\/a>Shawn Levy has signed on to direct Twentieth Century Fox\u2019s planned retelling of the Frankenstein<\/em> story.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/em>\u2019s Showblitz is reporting that the director has just signed on to direct the project that the studio is developing. Max Landis is currently writing a treatment for the film.<\/p>\n

Unclear, however, is Levy\u2019s status in relation to Fox\u2019s planned remake of Fantastic Voyage<\/strong>. Last month<\/a>, we told you that Levy and the studio were not seeing eye-to-eye on matters of casting for the film and that if they couldn\u2019t come to an agreement he would leave the project. The Frankenstein<\/em> film was one potential replacement<\/a> job that Levy had been considering.<\/p>\n

Levy beat out several other high profile directors for this film including Paul Greengrass, who had also been briefly attached to Fantastic Voyage<\/strong>, and David Yates for the gig.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
