\"\"<\/a>If there\u2019s something strange in your neighborhood theater, you might be able to get the Ghostbusters<\/strong> to take care of it next month.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s official Facebook<\/a> page has announced that the 1984 comedy classic will be returning to theaters.<\/p>\n

Alright, Ghostbusters fans. It\u2019s time to get your cats and dogs together and prepare for mass hysteria: This October, for the first time in over 25 years, the original and unforgettable Ghostbusters makes its triumphant return to theaters!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While there\u2019s no indication if this is going to be one of those one-night-only events or if this is for an actual week or two limited run, my money is on the former.<\/p>\n

Of course, those special screenings of older films are usually done in conjunction with some promotion. The recent screening of Scarface<\/strong> was to promote the film\u2019s blu-ray release and featured the premier of some special features that would be on the high-def disc.<\/p>\n

But with Ghostbusters<\/strong> already out on a rather nice blu-ray edition, what would the screening be used to promote? Aint It Cool<\/a> is hypothesizing that the studio may be using it to gauge interest in the eternally in development Ghostbusters 3<\/strong>. But what if, and I am just connecting some dots that may be entirely unrelated, they are using the screening to make a surprise announcement concerning the threequel?<\/p>\n

(Remember that back when The Blues Brothers<\/strong> screened at Radio City Music Hall as part of an event in 1998, Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman appeared in a pre-taped introduction to the film that was to announce the just-starting-production of Blues Brothers 2000<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

A Ghostbusters 3 film has been in development for quite some time now, with the hold-up to getting started seeming to be star Bill Murray. But even as recently as last month, Dan Aykroyd has been insistent<\/a> that the film will get made, with or without Murray\u2019s participation.<\/p>\n
