Reeves beat out a host of other directors on the studio&#8217;s short list including Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, Alfonso Cuaron and <strong>Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes<\/strong> director Rupert Wyatt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2011\/10\/exclusive-matt-reeves-is-warner-bros-pick-for-twilight-zone-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the studio will start to negotiate with the director next week to helm their adaption of the classic 1960s series created by Rod Serling. The studio hopes to get the director signed to the project quickly in order to give him enough time to get the film into production by next summer.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the 1983 film adaption of the series, this new film will not be an anthology but a single, stand-alone story that will only share the original television series&#8217; tone, which I have to admit is a bit disappointing. As I said in the past, the strength of the series was the anthology format allowed it to tell a variety of different stories.
