Confirming a rumor we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2011\/08\/24\/godzilla-coming-to-criterion-collection\/\" target=\"_blank\">first reported<\/a> back in August, the Criterion Collection announced that it will be releasing the original 1955 Japanese monster movie classic <strong>Gojira<\/strong>, better known to those of us in the west as <strong>Godzilla<\/strong>, on January 24 on blu-ray.<\/p>\n<p>The release will include a new, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2011\/08\/30\/criterion%e2%80%99s-gojiragodzilla-blu-ray-gets-even-sweeter\/\" target=\"_blank\">high-def digital restorations<\/a> of both Ishiro Honda\u2019s film and the 1956 American release of the film,<strong> Godzilla, King Of The Monsters<\/strong>. <strong>Gojira<\/strong> will feature the film\u2019s original uncompressed monaural soundtrack.
