\"\"<\/a>Even if Universal seems to have no enthusiasm for making a sequel to the 2001 comedy Zoolander<\/strong>, the film\u2019s writer, director and star Ben Stiller continues to talk up the proposed project.<\/p>\n

In a profile to be published in the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Stiller talks about the sequel and let slip one new story detail. –<\/p>\n

The story will pick up 10 years after the first film left off and, Derek\u2019s “School For Kids Who Can\u2019t Read Good” has been destroyed, leaving him in charge of its pupil.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stiller isn\u2019t deterred that Universal has been balking at getting the film into production, even though he states that they have gone through \u201cmaybe 20, 30 [script] drafts\u201d for the film. His 2008 hit Tropic Thunder<\/strong> bounced around in development for the better part of a decade, going through numerous drafts before it went into production. Stiller has been collaborating on the Zoolander 2<\/strong> script with his Tropic Thunder<\/strong> co-writer Justin Theroux.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure that fans of the first Zoolander<\/strong>, and I count myself among them, are glad that Stiller has not given up on bringing us another story featuring the dimwitted but well intentioned male super model Derek Zoolander. The character\u2019s appearance on<\/a> the recent Saturday Night Live<\/em> episode that Stiller hosted was a highlight of the show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
