{"id":17151,"date":"2011-11-04T06:52:04","date_gmt":"2011-11-04T11:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=17151"},"modified":"2018-12-09T00:55:10","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T05:55:10","slug":"simon-kinberg-working-on-x-men-first-class-sequel-script","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2011\/11\/04\/simon-kinberg-working-on-x-men-first-class-sequel-script\/","title":{"rendered":"Simon Kinberg Working On X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel Script"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/SimonKinberg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-17153\" title=\"SimonKinberg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/SimonKinberg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><strong>X-Men: First Class<\/strong> producer Simon Kinberg is currently writing a script for a sequel to the <strong>X-Men<\/strong> franchise prequel.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the film made $350 million at the box office since it opened this past June, it should come as no surprise that the studio is looking to move forward on a follow up to the 1960s era, superhero film.<\/p>\n<p>Although he served as a producer on <strong>X-Men: First Class<\/strong> and didn&#8217;t work on that film&#8217;s screenplay, Kinberg does have writing credits on <strong>Mr. &amp; Mrs Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Jumper<\/strong>, <strong>Sherlock Holmes<\/strong> and the upcoming <strong>This Means War<\/strong> and <strong>Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is way too early to know for sure, but it seems reasonable to assume that most of the first film&#8217;s cast including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones and Jennifer Lawrence will be back for a second adventure.<\/p>\n<p>After the dismalness of <strong>X3<\/strong> and <strong>X-Men Origins: Wolverine<\/strong>, <strong>First Class<\/strong> was a breath of fresh air for the franchise and I welcome a return to the historical setting for the superhero franchise. My only regret is that the first film seemed to have rushed a few storylines, perhaps not confident that there wouldn&#8217;t be a sequel in which those plot threads could have grown a bit more organically.
