\"\"<\/a>In the past couple of years, toy companies have landed a number of deals to turn their various products into movies. But did anyone see this coming?<\/p>\n

Warner Brothers has announced that they have given a greenlight to a moved based on the multicolo, inter-connecting building blocks known as Lego. The film will be a combination of live action and computer-generated animation, with the Australian animation firm Animal House handling the latter\u00a0 chores. Animal House did the animation for last year’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The studio had been developing a Lego movie since 2008, but it was only recently when they turned the project over to Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs<\/strong> co-creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to write and direct. Also joining the directorial team is Chris McKay who works on Cartoon Network’s stop-motion series Robot Chicken<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The studio has not set a firm date, but expects to have the film in theaters sometime in 2014.<\/p>\n

So far the studio has kept mum on answering the biggest question of all about this film – What the heck is the story? Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it is being said that the film will be “an action-adventure set in the Lego world.” Normally, most toys and games have a built-in story that can be exploited into a script. However, Lego blocks are pretty much story-less. Sure there are certain building sets that allow kids to make spaceships, castles, fire and ambulance houses and more. I am at a loss as to how such an open-ended toy\u00a0 can be turned into a film.<\/p>\n

But who knows? A Lego movie could turn out as entertaining as this-<\/p>\n
