\"\"<\/a>We\u2019ve been hearing that production on J J Abrams sequel to his Star Trek<\/strong> franchise reboot was due to start sometime soon, though all involved seemed reluctant to come forth with anything more concrete. That vagueness may be over as TrekMovie<\/a> is reporting that the film will commence principal photography on January 15, 2012. Note though, that as of this writing there is no independent confirmation of this date.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve known for some time that Abrams has been working with the first film\u2019s writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof on a final script polish to bring it into alignment with the budget studio Paramount Pictures has given the project. Reportedly, Industrial Lights and Magic are already at work on some visual effects shots that aren\u2019t dependent on any live action filming. It is also being reported that production designed Scott Chambliss has already completed much of his work. While new sets needed for the film are currently being constructed, many of the original sets from the 2009 film are being removed from storage and prepped as well.<\/p>\n

Of course, we still don\u2019t have any idea of what the film\u2019s story will be, though there may be hints dropped in IDW\u2019s upcoming ongoing comic book<\/a> series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
