\"\"<\/a>Although well received by comic book fans as well as critics, one of the few complaints that were leveled at Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man was that the design of the villainous Green Goblin may have strayed too far from how the character looked in the comics. Instead of the industrialist-turned-pumpkin-bomb-throwing-lunatic wearing a scary, rubbery mask, the film had actor William DeFoe wear an armored version that cut off any type of facial expression.<\/p>\n

It turns out that presenting Green Goblin as closer to his comic book look was considered for the film and that effects house Amalgamated Dynamics were tasked with developing that look. The company’s result can be seen in the two-minute clip below and I have to say that I like it. Would it have worked with the overall tone that Raimi created for his film? I’m not sure. But at least fans now know that there was some thought towards hewing closer to the Goblin’s comic book look.<\/p>\n
