Alexander Payne, Jim Rash and Nat Faxon took home the Best Adapted Screenplay award for translating Kaui Hart Hemmings&#8217;s novel <em>The Descendants<\/em> to the big screen. This was Payne&#8217;s third nomination and first win.<\/p>\n<p>Allen&#8217;s <strong>Midnight In Paris<\/strong> is also nominated for in the Best Original Screenplay category at this coming Sunday&#8217;s Academy Award, where he&#8217;ll once again be up against fellow WGA award nominee Bridesmaids as well as three other films who weren&#8217;t nominated for the Guild awards. The Descendents are also up for an Oscar in the Best Adapted Screenplay against two other of its fellow WGA nominees &#8211; <strong>Moneyball<\/strong> and <strong>Hugo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Galloway and Kelly Duane de la Vega won the documentary screenplay award for <strong>Better This World<\/strong>.
