You think buckskin.\u00a0You think square jaws. You think the 1950&#8217;s version of what a cowboy would look like.<\/p>\n<p>The reason why this image sticks with\u00a0us is that every\u00a0interpretation of the character since then, be it in movies, television, cartoons or comic books, haven&#8217;t strayed from this look. That&#8217;s what make the picture tweeted by Jerry Buckheimer, producer of Gore\u00a0Verbinski&#8217;s<strong>\u00a0The Lone Ranger<\/strong>, all that more shocking:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/lone-ranger-and-tonto-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19179\" title=\"lone-ranger-and-tonto small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/lone-ranger-and-tonto-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/lone-ranger-and-tonto-small.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/lone-ranger-and-tonto-small-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a>Since it&#8217;s such a break from the norm, the natural\u00a0knee jerk reaction would be to snark about the picture. &#8220;So, this time the Lone Ranger and Tonto are united by their mutual love of the works of Edgar Allan Poe!&#8221; &#8220;Here we see a scene where the duo heads out to the desert\u00a0to catch\u00a0a Bauhaus\/Cure double bill!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this is just one image and it might not be indicative of the direction the whole film will go into. The Lone Ranger is ripe for reinterpretation.
