\"\"<\/a>If you aren\u2019t getting enough of Captain America on the big screen between last summer\u2019s blockbuster and next month\u2019s The Avengers<\/strong>, I\u2019m afraid you\u2019ll have to wait a bit until your next does of Marvel Comics’s star-spangled superhero. Marvel Studios has announced that Captain America 2<\/strong> will hit theaters in just a day shy of two years from now on April 4, 2014.<\/p>\n

Although no director has been picked for the project yet, screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus are busily working away on a story that will feature Chris Evans as the World War two hero brought out of suspended animation as he, according to the press release –<\/p>\n

Previously, Marvel had two dates<\/a> staked out for films in 2014, but had not announced a title for either one. Today\u2019s announcement solves half that mystery, but still leaves their claimed May 16 date up in the air. The previous year will see both an Iron Man<\/strong> and a Thor<\/strong> film (on May 3 and November 13 respectively), so we shouldn\u2019t be getting another of their solo installments that quickly. This leaves us with several possibilities. A Hulk<\/strong> follow-up is one possible film that could be slotted in here. Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner in next month\u2019s The Avengers<\/strong> is signed on for possible sequels. But Marvel has also been developing a number of projects including Ant-Man<\/strong>, Dr. Strange<\/strong>, Runaways<\/strong> and the Guardians of the Galaxy<\/strong> and any one of them could be dropped into that date. Personally, given the amount of time it has been in development and states that Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige has been saying, I would expect the film to be announced to be director Edgar Wright\u2019s take on Ant-Man<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
