When talking about the great comic book film adaptions, 1995’s Judge Dredd<\/strong> starring Sylvester Stallone doesn’t come up in any sort of positive context. In fact, I doubt that the film doesn’t come up much in conversations about just mediocre comic book films. I think what I am trying to say is that Pete Travis’s new adaption of the British comic has a pretty low bar to clear in terms of expectations. But with a cast that features Karl Urban and Lena Headey, it looks like it will clear that bar with plenty of room to spare.<\/p>\n

We haven’t seen too much out of the production of the film outside of a picture<\/a> or two<\/a> of Urban in costume as the titular judge of the futuristic Mega City One. Courtesy of the LA Times<\/em>‘ Hero Blog<\/a> we now have a look at someone else in the cast – Lena Headey as the crime lord Madeline \u201cMa-Ma\u201d Madrigal.<\/p>\n

Hero Complex describes the character as –<\/p>\n

[T]he fierce gang leader who rules Peach Tree City Block and that puts her squarely in the sights of the film\u2019s title character, Judge Joseph Dredd \u2014 played by Karl Urban of \u201cStar Trek\u201d and \u201cThe Bourne Supremacy\u201d \u2014 the most feared of the city\u2019s Street Judges, the elite armored agents who bring the entire criminal justice system to the sidewalk; they are arresting officer, judge, jury and, yes, executioner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
