The story has been broken by industry gossip columnist Nikki Finke at her Deadline Hollywood.

Rumors have circulated for some time that Hardwicke has always been a difficult person to work with, something that Finke mentions in her report as one of the reasons for Hardwicke’s dismissal.

But whatever the reason, Summit is going to have to hustle to get a director lined up for Twilight‘s sequel New Moon, if they want to get in front of the camera as early as the spring as is currently being planned. Sliding into the director’s chair on a project that has a definite start date is often a tough proposition for even an experienced helmer. I would also imagine that Summit is going to be scrutinizing very closely whomever gets the job. With an opening weekend gross of $70 million and a current box office take of $138 million, Summit’s adaptation of the popular Twilight series of teen novels has rapidly become the company’s only golden-egg laying goose. With Twilight’s budget coming out at a skimpy $37 million, there’s a lot of profit to pay for some of Summit’s recent misfire’s like The Hottie & The Nottie and Disaster Movie.

The old Hollywood adage used to be that you are only as good as your last film, but even that doesn’t seem to be the case any more as Catherine Hardwicke, the director behind the [click for more]

[84
355,1143,1144,902,1142

0":"post-2020","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-book-to-screen","8":"tag-catherine-hardwicke","9":"tag-new-moon","10":"tag-sequels","11":"tag-twilight
[2
["GET
